Evelyne Joan, Antisemitic Owner of Mauro Café (Melrose), Gets Taste of Own Medicine

A few days ago, the owner of Mauro Café in Melrose California refused to allow her staff serve a visibly Jewish man wearing a yarmulke.

The owner has been identified as Evelyne Joan,

who was filmed actively participating in the recent protests against Jews at the Adas Torah Synagogue in Los Angeles – trying to prevent Jews from entering – and has allegedly refused to host a Jewish event for Israel before, suggesting they instead they go to “Beverly Hills.”

Yea, anti-Zionist-not-antisemite in da house (And could she look any more like a ‘Keffiyeh Karen’?)

But what happened next is heartwarming (in addition to the staff member refusing her orders and bringing the Jewish man a coffee).

The Jews fought back.

This is how you do it. Name and shame them. Peacefully but forcefully. Shine a light on their hatred, bigotry and hypocrisy.

And we will continue to do so online. Besides this post and all the social media posts out there immortalizing Evelyne as Evil One, Mauro Café is hopefully going to suffer.

Sure, they have been described as “one of the biggest daytime scenes in Weho” and have a celebrity clientele that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Zendaya, and Sofia Richie, but I hope this will change following this exposure.

We are already seeing some celebrities indicating they will no longer patronize the establishment.

and I assume the pro-Israel Michael Rappaport will also boycott the place:

Meanwhile Mauro Corbia, the founder of the Cafe, has commented, condemning Evelyne Joan while painting her as an opportunist:

I am Mauro Corbia. The Founder of Mauro’s Cafe, which I opened in February 1992; after I came to America in 1989 from Sardinia Italy in search of fulfilling my dreams.

I would like to clarify, I have not been involved or affiliated with the establishment I created at any level since 2010. In 1994 I had my brother Roberto, who was a wonderful chef come to America to help me with my thriving business. I made him my business partner. My brother Roberto was in love with Evelyne Joan. Who at that time lived in France. He loved her and wanted her to come to work in our business. He married her after brought her to America. “The land of opportunity.” She worked as a waitress for a short period. Started meeting people and it wasn’t long before she got involved in the Hollywood scene. My brother became estranged with her, he was troubled by her change in ways. On October 7/2001 my brother died in a motorcycle accident on Cahuenga Blvd. Evelyne Joan, my sister-in-law, at that time became my “unwanted” business partner. She then conspired to buy me out of Mauro’s Cafe. I couldn’t get the funds to buy her out and made I deal under distress. I also made a huge mistake to let her retain my name Mauros Cafe. She took advantage of everything. It was hard for me to let go, and I wasn’t thinking clearly, due to what happened to my brother Roberto. Evelyne Joan took advantage of everything I created and worked hard for, due to the death of my brother.

I condemn any hate speech or antisemitism against any religion, especially the Jewish community. As they helped me and I would not be where I am today without them. When no one else believed in me or my ability to build Mauro’s Cafe, Mr. Fred Segal trusted me, believed in me, and supported me and gave me the opportunity to start my business
